Meet MAPP student Kara D.

What has been your education/career path so far?

I have spent all of my young adult years working in human services. I've worked in mental health facilities, homeless shelters, halfway houses for registered sex offenders / people with addiction struggles and have worked in the legal setting (law offices). I've been fortunate to have many experiences. I also have a bachelor's degree in criminal justice!

What interests you/inspired you to pursue in a career in animal law and policy?

I really wanted to be able to use my education and experience I shared above in a different way that suits me better. I have a connection with animals and wildlife and once I learned I could use my experiences with criminal justice and the law in this way, I wanted to jump into it!

Why did you choose VLGS?

I chose this graduate school because of the program offering as well as the course offerings. I am very interested and happy with the courses offered in this graduate degree.
