Grand Riverkeeper's Northeast Tour: Canadian Hydropower Clean and Green for Whom?

2:00pm - 3:00pm

Yates Common 104

Megadams in Canada flood huge swaths of boreal forest, wetlands, wildlife habitat, and destroy aquatic ecosystems and harm the livelihood, well-being, and even the lives of communities, including the Indigenous peoples of Labrador, Canada - the Innu, Inuit and Metis.

Canadian power companies are trying to sell this destructive hydro power to the Northeast US and proposing a network of transmission corridors. Roberta Benefiel, the Grand Riverkeeper is coming to VLS to talk about this issue and the Muskrat Falls megadam.

Join us to learn more. This event is free, open to everyone, about a really important topic, and there will be snacks. Sponsored by VLS Native American Law Students Association.
