Jessica returned to her home state of Vermont to pursue a law degree at Vermont Law School (VLS). She has dedicated her time at VLS to focusing on criminal law and policy. Jessica continues to invest in her love of education through her work as the founding Director of SPEAK Inc., a non-profit organization that provides debate and public speaking training for traditionally underrepresented groups.

For the past two decades, she has specialized in the analysis of human and animal mummies from around the world. She is a former professor of anthropology, and has worked as a forensic specialist for a Canadian police force, and for a scientific research curator for a European mummy research project. Heather is a Canadian currently living in the United States, but has previously lived in the U.K., Denmark, and Germany. For many years, Heather has been interested in the implementation of ethical practices in the study and display of human remains.

Upon returning to work in viticulture to promote more sustainable management practices, she completed her Master’s degree in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School through the distance learning program. She is currently pursuing her JD degree at Vermont Law School, focusing on international law and climate change law.

At the age of 19 she entered the JD program at Vermont Law School (VLS), where she focuses on International and Comparative Law. Her courses at VLS have inspired her to focus on global food security issues. She is especially passionate about finding ways to improve labor conditions in the food system, as well as furthering a rights-based approach to trade and business.

In 2011, she co-founded the tribal grassroots group “No Fracking Way Turtle Mountain Tribe that lobbied the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa to become the first tribe in the United States to ban hydraulic fracturing.
