Earlier this month, Vermont Law and Graduate School’s Animal Law Society hosted its annual Wags and Welcome event.

This cherished tradition brings together students, faculty, staff, and an assortment of beloved dogs. In addition to pets, we were joined this year by an adorable group of adoptable puppies from Better Together Dog Rescue.

With midterms in sight, it was the perfect opportunity for the VLGS community to come together for an evening of connection, relaxation, and plenty of smiles.

“VLGS students—like most Americans—consider the dogs they share their lives with family members,” said Professor Delci Winders, director of VLGS’s Animal Law and Policy Institute. “It was so great to gather together to meet and celebrate our canine companions—and for them to meet each other!”

Attendees were also treated to delicious vegan fare, including award-winning chili from Vegan A.F. and desserts from G’s Kitchen.

One of our many active student groups, Animal Law Society is a campus chapter of the Animal Legal Defense Fund. Working in close collaboration with the Animal Law and Policy Institute, the group provides a forum for education, advocacy, and scholarship aimed at protecting animal lives and advancing the interests of animals through the legal system.
