- Janet Milne participated via Skype in an international workshop on "The Role of the Polluter Pays Principle and Other Legal Principles in Energy Taxes" on December 16, 2015. The workshop is part of a two-year project funded by the European Commission and organized by the Instituto University de Estuidios Europeos in Madrid, Spain. Professor Milne is the US participant in the project.
- Betsy Baker was a panelist at a workshop on “U.S.-Canada Shared Interests and Opportunities in the North American Arctic,” hosted by the Arctic Domain Awareness Center at the University of Alaska-Anchorage. - Tracy Bach was the U.S. Embassy in Qatar's 2015 Earth Day speaker. In a program presented at the Embassy's "American Corner" located in Qatar University's main library, Professor Bach spoke on the topic of "What Earth Day Means to Qatar?" In addition to her presentation, she served as a judge for an essay competition which received more than two dozen entries about Earth Day in Qatar. Professor Bach is a visiting professor at Qatar University College of Law this semester and a research fellow at QU's Center for Energy and Sustainability Law.

- Janet Milne took part in the Energy Independent Vermont Educational Forum at the Montshire Museum in Norwich, Vermont, on March 5, 2015. The public workshop, organized by a coalition of Vermont organizations, was designed to educate people about the “carbon pollution tax” bill that has been introduced in the Vermont House. Professor Milne’s presentation, Carbon Taxes 101, provided an introduction to carbon taxes and an overview of their use in other countries.

- Janet Milne is co-editor of two book manuscripts that were delivered in January to Edward Elgar for publication: Carbon Pricing: Design, Experiences and Issues (L. Kreiser et al. eds., forthcoming 2015) and Environmental Pricing: Studies in Policy Choices and Interactions (L. Kreiser et al. eds., forthcoming 2015). The two books contain selected, peer-reviewed papers that were delivered at the15th Global Conference on Environmental Taxation in Copenhagen in September 2014, an event co-sponsored by the VLS Environmental Tax Policy Institute. The books are Volumes XV and XVI respectively in the CRITICAL ISSUES IN ENVIRONMENTAL TAXATION series. Prof. Milne has been a co-editor of the series since its inception.

- Laura Murphy and Pat Parenteau wrote an amicus brief in an important Clean Water Act case pending in the Second Circuit (Catskills Trout Unlimited v EPA). The brief was filed on behalf of a group of environmental law professors and two of the original authors of the CWA—Leon Billings and Tom Jorling.

- In late December, Edward Elgar Publishing released the paperback edition of the Handbook of Research on Environmental Taxation, previously published in hardback in 2012. Professor Janet Milne is the book’s lead editor. Edward Elgar determined that the book’s record warranted release in a paperback edition that will reach substantially beyond the library market. The book provides an interdisciplinary, international assessment of the state-of-the-art of research on environmental taxation.
