Three Plus Accelerated JD or JD Program

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This agreement is designed to provide Castleton University students the opportunity to achieve a Bachelor’s Degree and a Juris Doctor (JD) Degree in five or six years.

REQUIREMENTS

At the time of application, students should have completed at least two semesters of full-time credit toward the Bachelor’s degree. Before entering Vermont Law School, Castleton students must complete all general education and degree requirements of their academic concentration by their junior year. A Castleton student must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.3 at all times after acceptance into the program by the Pre-Law Advisory Committee. Castleton students are required to submit a plan to the Pre-Law Advisory Committee demonstrating how the student will complete all general education and major requirements by the completion of their junior year. Castleton students must complete the application process required by VLS no later than March 31st of their junior year, including taking the LSAT test. Castleton students must meet the median acceptance scores at VLS. Castleton students who apply for the three plus Accelerated JD program (AJD) must meet the 155 LSAT and 3.2 GPA requirements. Students should have no evidence of Character and Fitness concerns that would disqualify the applicant from admission.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Students should contact the Pre-Law Advisory Committee at Castleton to discuss the admissions process. Students should apply to Vermont Law School by March 31st of their junior year.
