Fellowships Available to Journalists Covering Issues in Environmental or Food & Agricultural Law and Policy

SOUTH ROYALTON, Vt. (February 12, 2026) — The application deadline for Vermont Law and Graduate School’s summer media fellowships is approaching. VLGS’s Environmental Law Center is currently seeking journalists focused on environmental or food and agricultural law and policy.

The fellowships are open to full-time journalists who cover environmental issues, such as natural resources, energy, legal affairs, public health, food and agriculture and other related subjects.

Selected 2026 media fellows have access to distinguished faculty and visiting policy leaders whom they can connect with to develop fresh insights, meet new sources and gain renewed enthusiasm for covering the critical issues in climate change, food and agriculture, energy and other areas.

Call for 2026 Summer Media Fellows

Media fellows will audit environmental or food and agriculture courses in June or July 2026, receiving a two-week $1,250 stipend, free housing and a tuition waiver (travel not included). A one-week option is available with a $625 stipend.

Additionally, fellows take part in the Summer Session webinar series, “Hot Topics in Environmental Law,” delivering a 45-minute, informal lecture on an environmental topic of their choosing. Outside of classroom time, fellows can enjoy the beauty of the VLGS campus, historic South Royalton and rural Vermont. Family members are welcome.

Media fellows are selected based on work history, samples and commitment to covering environmental or food and agricultural issues, and their potential for increasing understanding of these issues nationwide.

Apply by Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
