Marianne Engelman-Lado, Deputy General Counsel of Environmental Initiatives at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), will discuss steps that the EPA is taking to advance environmental justice and equity and, particularly, to strengthen civil rights compliance and enforcement. With Executive Orders 13985, Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government, and 14008, Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad, President Biden placed equal opportunity at the core of the administration’s policy. From his first days in office, EPA Administrator Michael Regan has similarly committed to taking meaningful action to address environmental justice, equity, and civil rights. How has this translated into action, and what can stakeholders expect in the days to come?
