This conference will focus on the many intersections of sexual health. It will look at the importance of access to affordable reproductive health care. It will examine how placing hurdles to this access disproportionately effects communities of color, rural communities, and low-income areas. The conference will also delve into issues surrounding domestic violence, especially in communities often ignored in such conversations, including indigenous and LGBTQ communities. The conferences will discuss sexual violence and harassment, and issues especially pressing on college campuses. The conference will look into issues around understanding sexual education, sexual identity, gender identity, and sex work.

At VLS we are committed to addressing social injustice and using the law to create systemic change in our communities and the world. Sex, Race, and Empowerment in the 21st Century offers an opportunity for VLS - and by extension - our local community to learn about the impact of sexual violence on an entire community, and the importance in providing advocacy-based and legal sexual health resources. Furthermore, how we, as future attorneys, can help mitigate any barriers to accessing affordable reproductive and sexual health-care.
