​​This talk will address executive authority under the Antiquities Act generally and President Obama's national monument designations specifically. There have been several recent threats to Obama's monument designations from legislators who feel that national monument designations represent Presidential overreach at its worst. Professor Hoffmann will address these arguments​, and explain the value of national monuments and their role in preserving important cultural and natural resources.
