Biography

Professor McLane joined the OHJD VLGS faculty first as an adjunct professor teaching Constitutional Criminal Procedure in Spring 2025. Thereafter, she joined us as a visiting professor of law in Summer 2025. Professor McLane teaches Criminal Law, Torts, Evidence, Constitutional Criminal Procedure, and Trial Practice for the OHJD program.

Prior to joining the VLGS faculty, Professor McLane taught for seven years at the University of Wyoming College of Law where she served as a clinical professor directing the Defender Aid Clinic, a public defense and post-conviction legal clinic, before moving into a doctrinal role. Professor McLane has taught Criminal Law, Torts, Evidence, Criminal Procedure, Forensic Evidence, Advanced Fourth and Sixth Amendment Jurisprudence, Sentencing Law & Policy, Trial Advocacy, and Criminal Pretrial.

Before academia, Professor McLane was a public defender, private practitioner, and innocence lawyer in the state of Washington, where she tried a vast number of jury trials in both misdemeanor and felony courts as well as practiced at the appellate and post-conviction level of criminal defense practice. Professor McLane continues to carry a small caseload focused on systemic litigation in the criminal legal system.
