Biography
Terry Campos is an assistant professor of criminal law at VLGS. Prior to joining VLGS, Terry was an attorney with the National Crime Victim Law Institute (NCVLI) in Portland, Oregon, for seventeen years. At NCVLI, she provided expertise on crime victims’ rights and rights enforcement issues to victim attorneys, prosecuting attorneys, and advocates nationwide. Also in that role, Terry drafted amicus curiae briefs filed in state and federal appellate courts across the country, including the United States Supreme Court, to advance victims’ rights. Terry also taught students in the Crime Victims Litigation Clinic at Lewis and Clark Law School.
Prior to working at NCVLI, Terry was an assistant defender at the Office of the State Appellate Defender (OSAD) in Chicago, Illinois. At OSAD, she represented indigent defendants on direct appeal and in appeals from post-conviction proceedings. Terry’s dedication to criminal law is based on a strong commitment to individual rights and the recognition that access to justice too often depends on whether one has the resources to retain an attorney.
Terry has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida and a JD from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College, magna cum laude.
