Mr. Brandt displays strong competencies on: sustainability, low carbon economy, climate change, climate finance, emissions trading, renewable energy, environmental compliance, environmental legislation, ESG and litigation, and market brokerage for the LNG, carbon and biomass industries.
Arturo has advised public and private sector at local and international level, including his academic activity in Chile and abroad. With more than 30 years of experience in the Chile, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Swiss, Spain, Japan, China, Singapore, including in-depth experience consulting and leading interdisciplinary task forces in the environmental field across Latin America, Arturo has demonstrated his expertise knowledge with carbon markets and climate change through a global perspective.
Former professional posts include The World Conservation Union – IUCN Environmental Law Centre in Bonn, Germany, Poch Ambiental (a Leading Environmental Consulting in South America), Senior Latin American Project Manager for First Climate.
Currently, Arturo serves as senior counsel at Grupo Vial Abogados, a leading Chilean law firm.
Arturo has also served as president of the Chilean Association for Environmental Law, member of the Commission for Environmental Law at IUCN, adjunct professor at Vermont Law and Graduate School (Global Energy Law and Policy), as well as several Universities in Chile (Climate Change and Low Carbon Economy Policy), and senior fellow for Latin American Climate, Energy Law and Policy for the Institute for Energy and the Environment at Vermont Law and Graduate School.
Arturo has authored publications and participated in conferences, both in Chile and abroad.
