What Exxon Knew: Presentation by Matt Pawa

You have probably heard the news that #ExxonKnew about the climate risks associated with fossil fuels and that attorneys general from New York, California, Massachusetts, and the Virgin Islands have launched investigations. What exactly did Exxon know about climate change? And what did Exxon do for decades after it knew?

Leading U.S. environmental lawyer Matt Pawa will be making a courtroom-style presentation regarding Exxon’s internal documents that recently came to light and Exxon’s subsequent campaign of deception and denial. Mr. Pawa will also discuss his pioneering use of tort law in global warming cases such as Connecticut v. American Electric Power Co. and Kivalina v. ExxonMobil Corp, as well as his recent record-breaking $236 million verdict against ExxonMobil in a groundwater contamination case. He also successfully defended protestors who used a Lobsterboat to block a coal shipment in Massachusetts.
