Lecture: Access to and Benefit Sharing of Genetic Resources and Traditional Knowledge Legislation in China

​​​Join the U.S.-Asia Partnership for Environmental Law for a discussion of China’s status on establishing a regulatory framework on ensuring access and benefit sharing of genetic resources and traditional knowledge related to biological resources.

Delivered by Xue Dayuan, Professor and Chief Scientist for Minzu University of China; and Director for Institute of Environment and Resources Protection for Minority Areas.

Professor Xue Dayuan is the Professor and Chief Scientist for the College of Life and Environmental Science, Minzu University of China. He also works as Chief Scientist for Biodiversity at the Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences in China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection. He played a leading role in developing the National Program for Conservation and Use of Biological Resources and China’s National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan, conducted more than 50 research projects both in international and national level, published 29 academic books and more than 100 academic articles, including the book on Biosafety and Regulation for Genetically Modified Organisms and China’s Legal and Policy Frameworks for Access to Genetic Resources and Benefit-Sharing from their Use.
