––CNN Legal Analyst Michael Zeldin, a former senior aide in the Justice Department, will present “Mueller v. Trump: The White House on Trial” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, in Chase Community Center at Vermont Law School. Zeldin’s talk, which will open with a light reception, is free and open to the public and press, and will be streamed live at vermontlaw.edu/live.
Zeldin will discuss Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian election interference and potential collusion by Trump’s campaign, an investigation that dropped several bombshells this week. “It’s possible that Mueller is closing in on his determination about what obstruction looks like, whether it is a criminal offense in his mind, whether it is an impeachable offense, or whether it amounts to nothing,” Zeldin told CNN.

In addition to the Mueller investigation, Zeldin plans to talk about his diverse career in the law, including at the Department of Justice in the Narcotics and Dangerous Drug Section and as director of the Asset Forfeiture Office, director of the Money Laundering Office, and special counsel to the Office of the Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Division, for money laundering matters. He is a retired principal of a global consulting firm where he led their anti-money laundering and economic and trade sanctions practice, and former special counsel with Buckley Sandler. Zeldin earned a bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University, a juris doctor (JD) from George Washington University Law School, and a master of laws (LLM) from Georgetown University Law Center. In addition to providing legal analysis for CNN, he has published pieces in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post.
