IEE Director Michael Dworkin and Research Associate Jess Reiss took part in a workshop to evaluate the model legislation for Carbon Capture and Sequestration drafted by the CCSReg team. Workshop attendees included congressional staffers and representatives from industry, environmental NGOs, and the Department of Energy. Over the two days, six separate sessions each focused on a separate title of the model legislation. A CCSReg team member began each session with a brief summary of the solutions proposed in the model legislation. Then specific attendees commented on the model legislation, followed by an open discussion. The workshop afforded a vigorous assessment and critique of the model legislation. The CCSReg team will reconvene shortly to begin redrafting the model legislation. More information about the CCSReg project can be found at CCSReg.org.
