Lauren Moore '19

Lauren was born and raised in Cranston, Rhode Island.  As an Ocean-Stater, she spent a lot of time by the water growing up, and is passionate about ocean conservation.  Before venturing to Vermont, Lauren attended Stonehill College, where she received her B.A. in Sociology.  During her undergraduate career, Lauren volunteered at The Farm at Stonehill and other nonprofit organizations to relieve food insecurity in surrounding food deserts.  She also had the opportunity to complete a semester abroad in London, England, where she worked to integrate women and children with the work and school systems there.

After spending time tackling food insecurity and environmental justice issues, Lauren was inspired to apply to Vermont Law School to earn a Master of Environmental Law and Policy (MELP) degree.  During her MELP career, she attended a panel and screening of Racing Extinction.  This documentary resonated with her ocean roots, and she decided to return to VLS as an AJD.  While at the Clinic, Lauren has worked on cases involving Vermont pesticide use, endangered species, Clean Air Act permitting, and environmental justice.  Lauren’s goal is to ultimately pursue a legal career in marine wildlife conservation and endangered species protection.
