Professor Gary Brooks graduated from Dartmouth College (AB, summa cum laude, 1970) and Yale Law School (JD, 1976). He is a member of the Bars of New Hampshire and Vermont and has practiced law in the Upper Valley for 30 years, specializing in trusts and estates and corporate law. He is an adjunct professor at Vermont Law School, where he regularly teaches a course in commercial transactions. He is a former director and board member of the King Arthur Flour Co., and helped guide the company through a three-stage employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) conversion. He is a member of the board of directors of Resource Systems Group, Inc., and a former trustee of Opera North, the Montshire Museum of Science, the Sharon Academy and the Sports Venue Foundation. Prior to beginning his law career, he worked in Washington, D.C., as a legislative aide to U.S. Rep. Dante Fascell (D-Fla.), and as assistant dean of the college at Dartmouth College. He is a current director and past president of the Dartmouth Lawyers Association, an organization of Dartmouth alumni involved in the legal profession. In 1999, he was given the Dartmouth Alumni Award for service to Dartmouth College.
