Esther Akwii is an LLM Fellow with the Center for Agriculture and Food Systems (CAFS). She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from Makerere University and a Diploma in Law (First Class) from the Law Development Centre, all in Kampala, Uganda. She has previously worked with smallholder farmers on land tenure, right to food, climate change, and natural resource governance. Before joining the CAFS team, she worked at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations’ Agriculture and Consumer Protection Department in Rome, Italy. At CAFS, Esther is involved on several projects, conducting research and writing on agriculture-related topics such as farm to school legislation, rural food access, food safety, land matters, agritourism, labor, and business structures.
