Global Impacts of Energy Use

About this Course

The use of energy is a significant source of many local, national, and global environmental problems including urban smog and climate change.  At the same time, the effective utilizationof energy has been closely associated with development.  Many new technologies appear to offer substantial promise for achieving economic goals consistent with improving environmental quality.  This course will explore the interconnected nature of these issues beginning with an examination of the relationship between energy, development, and environmental quality.  Additional likely topics include the Climate Change Convention, strategies to accelerate the utilization of renewable energy technologies, and energy for transportation.
