Conservation Land Trusts

About this Course

This course explores land trust techniques as voluntary, non-regulatory methods for protecting conservation lands.  Topics include the history and philosophy of land trusts, land protection methods, legal and tax implications, management and stewardship of conservation lands, and non-profit organization issues.  Specific techniques including conservation restrictions, purchase of development rights, land acquisition, and estate planning will be examined in detail.  Field trips and case studies of conservation projects will provide illustration of course materials.
