About This Class

Admission to the Legislative Clinic is by application.  The course is open to students are enrolled in at the time of application or who have successfully completed the fall Legislation course, a prerequisite for this clinic.  
 
Legislative clinic students will engage in research and drafting projects in a variety of subject areas of interest to the Vermont General Assembly.  Students will also observe floor debate, attend committee hearings, and participate in hearings as needed by the committees.  During the semester, each student will follow a bill through the legislative process.  
 
Students are required to be in attendance at the General Assembly in Montpelier each week, typically on either Wednesday and Friday or Tuesday and Thursday. The course runs concurrently with the session of the General Assembly, which means that it begins in early January. 
 
This course is graded on a Pass/Fail basis.  An AWR will not be satisfied by this course.
