About This Class

The Advanced Energy Clinic explores at an advanced level, the practical aspects of real world energy projects from the stage of conceptualization, development, contracting, financing, regulatory approval and construction. Students will be further exposed to the state and federal statutes, rules, tax codes, and ordinances that apply to the development of energy projects particularly those that promote sustainability at the community level. Students will also review and/or develop purchased power and other commercial agreements governing these projects. Current project areas include community solar development and other alternative energy systems. Advanced Energy Clinic students will play a leadership role in managing project teams and interfacing with clients. Classroom instruction will be through IEE faculty, fellows, and guest lecturers. This course is offered in the summer, fall and spring semesters. The Energy Clinic and Energy Policy in a Carbon Constrained World (ENV5226) are prerequisites for this course. Application through the common clinic application and/or instructor approval is required.
