About This Class

Lawyers and land use professionals, whether representing land owners, developers, regulators, development opponents, or land conservation organizations, need to understand the same basics of land transactions, development and finance.  The course examines how land is transferred, including an introduction to the title system, title insurance, purchase contracts and deeds.  The course also provides an introduction to the private development process and exposes students to modern real estate financing and investment decision-making.  Course participants will engage in the negotiation and drafting of a commercial purchase agreement.
