About This Class

This one-credit-hour course offers students, who have taken or are enrolled in the basic European Union Law course, an opportunity to study specialized topics in European Union law at the University of Trento Law School in Italy during the week of Spring Break. The lectures, given by Trento faculty in English, vary in coverage from year to year but include such topics as environmental law, criminal law, fundamental rights, so-called "private law," and the equal treatment of men and women.Method of evaluation: one-hour in-class final exam scheduled either independently or in conjunction with the two-hour exam for European Union Law. IMPORTANT: Students taking the course will be billed a $300 administrative fee on their spring tuition bill to help defray the cost of providing stipends for participating Trento faculty. Because of the need for advance planning by our partner institution, students who drop the course after November 11th will forfeit the fee, regardless of whether they complete the course or not. Students enrolled in the course must arrange and pay for their own travel and lodging for the Italy portion of the course.
