Career Paths

It is never too early to think about what you want to do after graduating, and the Office of Career Services can help you organize your thoughts and plan for the future. Our goal is to explore career possibilities with you and help you secure desirable internships, summer positions, and post-graduation jobs. Through a broad range of services, we help you master the application process, prepare for interviews, and build connections with potential employers.

With a strong legal education, you will have many options ahead. Not only will we teach you to navigate the job search, but we will also prepare you to handle any twists and turns you might encounter as your career unfolds.

Careers of VLS Alumni

Where will you go from here? Our graduates follow many different paths. A VLS education provides the knowledge and experience you need for any direction you choose, from nonprofit work or environmental advocacy to the partner track in a corporate law firm. We have a powerful network of VLS alumni who are leaders in these fields and who routinely play an active role in the lives of current students.

Employment Statistics

Students from the Class of 2007 took the bar exam in 35 different states, and over 90 percent of them were employed or in a degree program nine months after graduation—31 percent with law firms, 21 percent as judicial law clerks, and over 30 percent in government or public interest positions.
