Hot Topics in Environmental Law - Climate Change in the Supreme Court: Round ThreeJudge Peter Hall of U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, John Echeverria, Environmental Law Center, Vermont Law School; Patrick Parenteau, Environmental and Natural Resources Clinic, Vermont Law School. In Round One, a stunning victory in Massachusetts v. EPA set in motion a raft of EPA regulations aimed at reducing GHG's from cars and powerplants. In Round Two, the Second Circuit upheld the right to the states to pursue their claims in Connecticut v AEP. In Round Three, the U.S. Supreme Court on June 20 unanimously rejected the lawsuit, saying the matter must be addressed by the EPA rather than the courts. This panel will feature the Honorable Peter Hall, Judge on the Second Circuit and author of the opinion under the review in the AEP case, as well as, VLS professors Patrick Parenteau and John Echeverria.
