	<Title type="string" label="Title" readonly="false" hidden="false" required="false" ID="1">1L Public Citizenship and the Law Series: Robert Schwartz</Title><Abstract type="dhtml" label="Description" readonly="false" hidden="false" required="false" ID="2"><![CDATA[Robert Schwartz co-founded Juvenile Law Center in 1975 and has been the executive director since 1982. Mr. Schwartz is a national leader in advocating for children's rights and has extensive experience in all areas of juvenile law. He has represented dependent and delinquent children in Pennsylvania juvenile and appellate courts; brought class-action litigation over institutional conditions and probation functions; testified in Congress before House and Senate committees; and spoken in over 25 states on matters related to children and the law. In 1993 Mr. Schwartz co-authored the ABA's report, <em>America's Children at Risk</em>. In 1995 he helped author the ABA's report on youth's access to quality lawyers, <em>A Call for Justice</em>. From 1996 to 2006, he was a member of the MacArthur Foundation Research Network on Adolescent Development and Juvenile Justice, and co-edited <em>Youth on Trial: A Development Perspective on Juvenile Justice</em> (University of Chicago Press 2000). He is the current chair of the Advisory Committee to the Children's Rights Division at Human Rights Watch and chair of the Board of Philadelphia Youth Network.&nbsp; Mr. Schwartz's presentation at Vermont Law School is part of the 2010-2011 seminar series designed <span style="text-decoration: underline;">exclusively</span> for 1L students, Public Citizenship and the Law.
