Annual Conference: This year, Alliance is organizing with the International Law Society to put on an International LGBT Rights Conference April 7th.
Annual Alliance Gayla & Stonewall Celebration (2012) - Our yearly celebration of diversity ala drag revue! A fun time is guaranteed to be had at this event.
It Gets Better Video (2012) - Alliance will be coordinating with other groups on campus to make an It Gets Better Video from the students at Vermont Law School.
Past Events:
World AIDS Day (2011) - Alliance, in coordination with Law Students for Reproductive Justice and Black Law Students Association, worked to get free HIV testing on Campus for two days. The groups also staffed a table during those days providing students with resources on safer sex and HIV testing and free condoms.
Transgender Remembrance Day Panel (2011) - Alliance brought in two panelists to discuss the newest improvement in Vermont laws: a transgender person may now get their birth certificate changed without being required to have sexual reassignment surgery.
Skittlebomb Fundraiser/National Coming Out Day (2011): A fun little fundraising campaign where we offered bags of candy (mostly skittles, though some starbursts were included as well) with a little card saying "I love you just the way you are." All of the nearly $200 raised was donated to Outright Vermont, a group that focuses on LGBT youth advocacy. Check out the article on this event that was featured in VLS's newpaper, The Forum (page 7).
Community Day (2011) - Alliance helped out with a school and town wide Community Day Fair by running the bounce castle and doing arts and crafts with kids. A good time was had by all. Alliance also had resources on how to deal with bullying at our table or this event.
Annual Alliance Gayla & Stonewall Celebration (2011) - Every year, Alliance puts on Gayla, a drag revue that makes everyone's loafers a little lighter and puts glitter in the crisp spring air here in South Royalton, Vermont. Many come out to see their classmates, staff, and faculty drag it up in honor of Stonewall and the modern queer rights movement!
National Coming Out Day Candlelight Vigil/GLTQ Bullying Awareness Campaign (2010) - In response to the string of LGBT teen suicides, Alliance worked with the VLS administration to organize a vigil that was attended by staff, faculty, students, and the larger community.
International Exchange with McGill OutLaw Group (2010) - Alliance visited Montreal to take part in an academic and cultural exchange with McGill University law students.
