VLS Housing Info for Landlords
Vermont Law School created this Housing list as a tool for our students to use to find housing while attending Vermont Law School. This site is also used by our faculty, staff and the general public. Please do not post a listing you are not willing to rent to students, faculty, staff and/or the general public. Though Vermont Law School maintains this website, we do not become involved in matters between tenants and landlords (see more information about Disputes below).Students begin looking for Fall Housing as early as March. We recommend posting your listings for Fall during the months of March - August. You may still post a listing after August but most students have found housing before Orientation, which begins during the last week of August.
The Housing list contains rental properties only. We do not list real estate for sale. We reserve the right to amend, remove and correct information posted or to be posted. We cannot add photos to our Housing Website. Vermont Law School also has a bulletin board for Housing by the Chase Center on campus. You may post rentals there, as well as houses for sale. If you would like to post a flyer on the board, please send it to the Housing Coordinator. Feel free to include a photo. All flyers will be removed after 2 months or if they do not have a date posted on them.

Vermont Law School hosts a busy summer school from May 29 through August 4. Most of the courses are two weeks long. Many of the students come from out of state or out of the U.S. and are looking for furnished housing with short term leases—usually two weeks. A few students will come for the entire session or one month. Some students are professionals, combining study with summer vacation, and others are students from other law schools and graduate degree programs. We recommend posting your summer listing beginning as early as March but not later than the end of June.

Fees
We charge landlords to post rentals on the web site. We are keeping our fees modest but do require:
- That landlords pay $25 per year as a landlord registration fee, which includes posting one rental unit.

- There is no charge to have a rental taken off the list.
Properties will not be posted on the web site or given to students until payment is received. If you submit a rental by using the link above, you can pay with a credit card through our web site, or you can send a check (made out to Vermont Law School) to:

Disputes
Please be advised that Vermont Law School does not accept responsibility or become involved in matters between students and landlords. We have created this web page and housing data base as a service to our students and community. However, should a conflict develop between a landlord and tenant, Vermont Law School does have a Mediation Program that may be of assistance.
The Mediation Project operates a Campus Mediation Program for disputes, including housing issues that arise between students and landlords, and student roommates. Mediation is a confidential process in which a neutral person—the mediator—listens to parties discuss their conflict, while assisting in clarifying issues and explaining the legal and non-legal aspects of the conflict. All mediators are second and third year students with mediation training and experience, working under the supervision of Professor M. Robin Barone. Regardless of training, the mediator's job is not to offer legal advice or render an opinion. It is the parties themselves who negotiate their own mutually acceptable step to take beyond mediation. All mediations are subject to strict confidentiality, and neither the parties nor the mediators may be subpoenaed to discuss the content of the mediation in any legal proceeding. Overall, the Campus Mediation Project provides a valuable service for all members of the community. For more information contact Professor M. Robin Barone at Mrobinbarone@aol.com.
