10/06/11: Greetings from the Library:
As early as Thursday, October 6th, you will encounter construction outside the library newspaper room entrance. Complications from a leaky roof necessitate installation of a tent like structure in the hallway. You will be able to use the door to the library, but it might be a bit congested especially during class breaks. Thanks in advance for your patience with our (never-ending) water related repairs.

And yes, the Basement is coming along nicely, thank you.

Cheers,
Cynthia, on behalf of the Library and B&G

09/06/11: Library Basement Remains Closed
Greetings from the Library:

Just a quick update about the library basement... there is more water damage than first thought, and the basement level will need to remain closed. Lori from Buildings and Grounds reports that the humidifiers are working to reduce the moisture but that some of the sheet rock has been damaged and needs to be repaired. For those who are eager to get to the basement (I know... but some of you really like to study down there and others are trying to get to materials shelved down there,) there are significant safety concerns including exposure to mold. As soon as we learn more, we will let you know.

Meanwhile, Michele and I will work to obtain needed materials as quickly as we can. Many thanks for your continued patience while we get ourselves back together post Irene.

Cheers,
Cynthia on behalf of the Library Staff

09/01/11: Library Basement Closed for Cleaning

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to keep you all abreast of the condition of the library, as the basement was flooded this past weekend.

As of now, there is a cleaning crew removing the carpet and steam cleaning the floors. The baseboards and walls will be checked for any additional damage. Fortunately, no materials were damaged.

We anticipate the clean-up process to be completed by Tuesday, September 6th. In the meantime, the basement will be closed for your safety, as there may be mold.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience,

Carl
