Emergency Hot Keys

Please be aware that there are two emergency pre-set numbers on your hot key buttons. Bethel barracks for police & fire and VLS security are pre-programmed into your phones. These buttons, from the bottom, are numbers 3 and 4 as per below.

To dial 911 you do not need to dial 9 for an outside line.

In the near future you will receive a new insert for your phone with the bottom four lines identified. Until you receive the new insert, you may want to write this information on your insert. To remove the insert, feel for an indent at the bottom of the plastic cover and pull the paper down from behind plastic.

New Phones - Q and A

Will my extension or outside phone number change?
No. Phone extensions and your direct number will remain the same.

Will the number I call for voice mail change??
No, it will remain 2050 in the new system.

Will my passcode (password) for voice mail change??
Possibly. You will need to set up your new voice mail account when the cut-over occurs on Monday. You may change your passcode or keep your old one at that time.

Will I receive training on the new phone system??
We will conduct phone system training for staff, faculty and students at the following times:
Tuesday, October 12th, from 10:00 to 10:30 and 2:00 - 2:30 in the Nina Thomas room.
Wednesday, October 13th, from 1:00 - 1:30 in Oakes 210.
Do I have to attend training? Are instructions available??
While training for the new phone system is optional, the IT department recommends that you attend training. For those who are unable to attend training or are off campus, instructions are available at: http://www.vermontlaw.edu/it/x11885.xml . Most faculty and staff will receive a 5312 IP Phone. Documentation on the use of your new phone and voice mail will be on your desk with your new phone Monday morning.
