Novick is the author of prize-winning works of legal and intellectual history, including <em>Honorable Justice: The Life of Oliver Wendell Holmes</em>, which was awarded the Silver Gavel Award of the American Bar Association, short-listed for the National Book Critics Circle award, named an editor's choice by the <em>New York Times Book Review</em>, and a Washington Post best seller. He has written extensively for journals and law reviews.</div><div><br>In an earlier career, Mr. Novick was an environmental journalist and lawyer. He published <em>The Careless Atom</em>, the first explanation of the hazards of nuclear power, and an award-winning treatise, <em>Law of Environmental Protection</em>. His books on environmental subjects have been translated and published throughout North America, Europe and Japan.
