Jenny Carter brings diverse experience including a private environmental practice, environmental and consumer public interest advocacy, and entrepreneurship. As Environmental Director for the Massachusetts Public Interest Research Group, Jenny successfully spearheaded a legislative initiative to make Massachusetts the first state to adopt California’s auto emissions standards, and secured over $20 million in annual funding for Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle programs. As Policy Director and Staff Attorney for the Vermont Public Interest Research Group, Jenny played a key role in protecting and advancing environmental and consumer interests, including stopping efforts to deregulate Vermont’s electric utility industry, increasing funding for LIHEAP, and promoting legislation to create the nation’s first energy efficiency utility.
