02/11/10: Web-based Microsoft Office Training

Dear VLS Community:

The IT department has secured web training from the online software training company Element K.

If you would like to have Word or other Microsoft Office application training on your schedule, please let Julie Holmes know and she will set up an account for you. Julie has completed a self-paced course and she found it helpful. Please let Julie know if you have an interest in this training, questions or concerns. A catalog of the opportunities is available online for your review.

Enjoy!

Zipcars at VLS

Two self-service Zipcars – an all-wheel drive Toyota Matrix and a Toyota Prius – will be available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The cars are located in reserved spaces in the upper Oakes parking lot and they are available to all staff and students aged 18 and over. Gas, maintenance, insurance, and reserved parking are included in low hourly and daily rates. Faculty, staff, and students will be able to join Zipcar for $35 and can drive for as little as $8 per hour or $66 per day weekdays and $9 per hour or $72 per day on weekends. Members also get $35 in free driving credit as part of a launch promotion.

Zipcar provides students the freedom of car ownership – the ability to get off campus for errands, entertainment or road trips – without the associated cost and hassle of owning a car. Faculty and staff can reserve Zipcars for personal use as well as for running work-related errands without putting wear-and-tear on their personal vehicles. Additionally, departmental accounts are available for easy billing and employee usage.
