Leak Detection and Repair

Pennsylvania has adopted the national standards of performance for new stationary sources in its entirety. Pennsylvania further requires annual instrument-based LDAR at new unconventional gas wellpads and other facilities as a condition of exemption from requirements to obtain an air emissions permit from such facilities.

Venting and/or Flaring

Venting of gas: The venting of gas to the atmosphere from a well is prohibited when the venting produces a hazard to the public health and safety.
