Community involvement has been a defining characteristic of the Vermont Law School student body since the school’s inception. That’s why the Class of 2011 has chosen as their class gift to raise $50,000 for an endowed scholarship honoring exemplary community leadership at the local, state, national, or international level.Once the endowment is established, the Class of 2011 Community Leader Scholarship will be awarded annually in the spring to a second-year JD student or a MELP or LLM student who has made a significant impact in developing or fostering community during his or her time as a Vermont Law School student.
The Class of 2011 Community Leader Scholarship will reward students who balance academic and extracurricular passions to actively promote the VLS tradition of making a difference in the world. This is only the second VLS scholarship available to upperclassmen; this scholarship will recognize current students for their leadership and provide a much-needed resource to strong students in the midst of their Vermont Law School experience.
The Class of 2011 gift is part of a commitment to grow Vermont Law School’s endowment by $5 million over the next five years. Sixty percent of our student body currently receives financial assistance; this increase is specifically intended to ensure that our students receive the critical financial support both needed and deserved as they train to become exceptional community advocates.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 in gifts and pledges by June 30, 2011. Please join the Class of 2011 in making this scholarship a reality for future VLS students. Your support is greatly appreciated.
