Biography

Professor Laurie Beyranevand is an expert in legal writing, dispute resolution, administrative law, and advocacy.  Currently, she teaches Introduction to Legal Studies, Environmental Writing and Advocacy, and Interviewing, Counseling, and Negotiation. 

Professor Beyranevand received her B.A. in Political Science and English from Rutgers College in 1999. In 2003, she received her J.D. from Vermont Law School with a concentration in environmental law. While in law school, she clerked in the environmental division of the Vermont Attorney General's Office.

Following law school, Professor Beyranevand clerked for the Honorable Marie E. Lihotz in New Jersey where she also served as a court mediator.  In 2004, she began working for Vermont Legal Aid where her practice focused primarily on administrative hearings and appeals, as well as litigation and mediation.  Additionally, while in practice, Professor Beyranevand prepared class action litigation in federal court.  She is a member of both the New York and Vermont State Bar Associations, and is admitted to the United States District Court - District of Vermont.
