Sue Ely works for the U.S. Department of the Interior's Office of the Solicitor in Washington, D.C. Before joining the DOI, she interned at the Council on Environmental Quality in the Executive Office of the President, EPA Region 1, and the Brennan Center for Justice. Before law school, she worked for various environmental non-profits in Alaska.
She received a JD degree from Duke Law School, a MESc degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and a BA degree from Mount Holyoke College. She spent her final year of law school as a visiting student at VLS, where she participated in VLS's Environment and Natural Resources Legal Clinic and took classes.
