SOUTH ROYALTON, Vt.—Vermont Law School announced today that it is launching a program developed with LexisNexis that will enable Vermont Law School alumni to access a suite of online, on-demand continuing legal education (CLE) courses for a discounted price. Vermont Law School is the first law school to work with Lexis to deliver low-cost CLE programs to its alumni. In addition, three of the online CLE courses will feature faculty from Vermont Law School and more are expected in the near future. Initially VLS alumni can access courses taught by well-known faculty members Stephanie Willbanks, Patrick Parenteau, and Cheryl Hanna.

The program allows Vermont Law School alumni to subscribe to the Lexis suite of more than 30 CLE courses for $250 annually, a substantial discount from the regular $695 subscription rate. Lawyers are required to complete a minimum number of CLE credits each year to satisfy their state bar requirements.

“Vermont Law School is excited to provide an opportunity for our alumni to earn CLE credits from favorite professors,” said Rebecca Purdom, Associate Dean of Innovation and New Programs. “This is a great way for graduates to maintain their professional credential and learn once again from beloved faculty at Vermont Law.”

“This program with Lexis furthers our commitment to innovation,” said Purdom. “We were one of the first law schools to offer distance learning courses and degrees, so it was a natural progression to find online opportunities that cater to our graduates.”

The promotion features a one-year subscription to the nationally accredited online Lexis CLE suite. “Lawyers are lifelong learners, and the demands of practice today necessitate faster, easier, more practical and more timely CLE materials than ever. The Lexis® CLE team is delighted to collaborate with forward-thinking legal educators like VLS to offer graduates well-designed, on-demand CLE courses that will help them in their day-to-day legal practice,” said Pavani Reddy, Senior Director of the CLE Portfolio at LexisNexis.

Alumni can access the CLE courses through the alumni portal, vlsConnect. The program is available starting on October 30, 2013.
