Vermont Law School Invites Gubernatorial Candidates to Debate

October 11, 2010

SOUTH ROYALTON, VT -- The Vermont Law School chapter of the National Lawyers Guild has invited Vermont gubernatorial candidates Democrat Peter Shumlin and Republican Brian Dubie to an Oct. 26 debate in the run up to Election Day. The event, which is free and open to the public, will start at 5:30 p.m. in the Chase Community Center.

Shumlin, the Vermont Senate president pro tem, has agreed to participate in the debate. Dubie, the state's four-term lieutenant governor, hasn't yet responded to the invitation. Dubie hasn't participated in debates beyond the 13 joint appearances with his opponent that he agreed to at the start of the campaign. The VLS event isn't one of the original 13 forums.

NOTE: The use of Vermont Law School's facilities for this event should not be construed as the school's endorsement of, or opposition to, any candidate.
