Family Visiting Weekend
April 4-6, 2013

Parents and family members of current students are invited to see the Vermont Law School campus, attend law and policy classes, meet professors, ask questions of parents who have already been through the law school experience, and learn about what's next in the field of law-and how VLS is poised to lead. Come learn what makes Vermont Law School the thriving, one-of-a-kind institution your student has chosen to attend.

Fitness Center Open

Parents and family members ages 16+ may use the fitness center at any point during the day. Guest pass required for entry. Guest passes can be picked up from Theresa Johnson in the Deans' Office, second floor of Debevoise Hall, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Student ambassadors will guide tours of the campus throughout the day. Tours will depart every hour on the hour from the registration table.

MORNING CLASSES I

A) Estates with Professor Stephanie Willbanks
This course examines gratuitous transfers by trusts, wills, and interstate succession; execution and revocation of wills; administration of estates; spousal rights; the nature of trusts and fiduciary relationships; powers of appointment; and future interests.

B) Environmental Economics and Markets with Benjamin Sovacool
Introduces students to the discipline of environmental economics and exposes them to debates over the use of market-based instruments in environmental and energy policy. It also introduces students to basic economics and finance concepts, examines key principles, and applies these basic elements and concepts to common environmental problems and actual case studies.

A) Corporations and Other Business Associations with Jennifer Taub
Provides a basic understanding of the different organizational forms for businesses, including corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships, general partnerships, and sole proprietorships. The course also examines the law of agency, and surveys selected topics such as basic accounting principles, business formation, financing, dissolution, and securities regulation.

Parents of VLS students—current and past—provide vital financial support to the law school. We hope you will join nearly 100 Parents who will make a gift to Vermont Law School this year. Parents are further encouraged to join the Leaders' Circle, a group of sustaining donors who deliver approximately 70% of the school's unrestricted annual funds.
