
Careers of VLS Alumni
Vermont Law School alumni have pursued extraordinarily diverse careers, and within their careers many have held several positions spanning the nonprofit, public, and private sectors as they have focused on issues that mattered most to them. Many regularly return to campus to teach, lecture, or simply meet with current students.
Law Firms
Across the nation, our graduates are working in both large and small law firms, focusing on litigation, the environment, energy, intellectual property, antitrust, securities, and more. |
Government
Our graduates work in national, state, and local government positions with organizations such as the EPA, the Department of Justice, the U.S. Senate, state attorneys general and regulartory agencies, and a host of local district attorney and municipal offices. |
Nonprofit
Our graduates include an environmental justice attorney with the Natural Resources Defense Council, a public affairs director for Planned Parenthood, a staff attorney with Defenders of Wildlife, and a number of staff attorneys for legal aid and public defender organizations. |
Clerkships
Seventeen percent of VLS graduate—nearly twice the national average—accept clerkships around the country with both state and federal judges. |
Business
Serving as CEOs, in-house counsel, and environmental consultants, VLS graduates are working in companies such as General Electric, Atlantic Richfield, Tyco, and Sprint Nextel. |
