Tuition and Financial Aid

Additional Resources

Web Picks

We encourage applicants and matriculated students to seek alternative financial aid through often unexplored programs sponsored by:

  • Government agencies
  • Home state public financial aid agencies
  • Professional organizations
  • Corporations
  • Foundations
  • Educational associations

Fellowships, scholarships and grants through private organizations can provide you with tuition and living allowance assistance that doesn't have to be repaid. These kinds of funding are often awarded for merit, need, in exchange for service, or a combination of these elements. Listed below are several publications which may be useful in your search for funding. Some of these publications may be available at your local or university library. You may access some of these books through an inter-library loan service:

  1. Finding Money for College, John B. and Mariah P. Bear. Ten Speed Press.
  2. Peterson's Grants for Graduate Study, 4th Edition. Peterson's Guides.
  3. Foundation Grants to Individuals, 8th Edition. Carlotta R. Mills, Editor. The Foundation Center.
  4. Financing Graduate School, Patricia McWade. Peterson's Guides.
  5. Financial Aid for Minorities in Business and Law, Garrett Park, MD. Garrett Park Press.
  6. Directory of Financial Aid for Minorities, Gail Ann Schlachter. Reference Service Press.
  7. The Law Student's Guide to Scholarships and Grants, Franklin A. Williams. Scovill, Paterson, Inc.

For those with internet access, we strongly recommend you begin your search for private scholarship information at www.finaid.org, where you'll find a site called "The Financial Information Page". Be advised that there are some scholarship search services that are not legitimate foundations. Information about services to avoid is available at the above mentioned website.
