General Practice Program

General Practice Mentorship Project

The General Practice Program believes that there is much to learn outside of the classroom, and therefore has established its Mentorship Project. In their first year of the GPP, students are paired with carefully selected local practitioners, who serve as mentors to the students for the entire academic year. Students and mentors meet at least once for conversation about issues of practice and professionalism and students are invited to meet more frequently to talk about what it means to be a lawyer or to attend hearings or other practice events with their mentors.   In any event, students are required to observe a total of three professional events with or without their mentors, including court and administrative proceedings, client meetings, or bar association events.
