britney-turner Britney Turner '12

Sports Law Research Assistant

Britney Turner is a second-year JD candidate at Vermont Law School. She did her undergraduate work at Hawaii Pacific University and Montana State University where she earned a bachelor of arts in philosophy with a minor in women's and gender studies. Before coming to law school, she studied abroad at Christ University in Bangalore, India, and placed second in her division at the Grizzly Marathon. At VLS, she is a research assistant to Professor Michael McCann, with a focus primarily on sports law. Her research allows Britney to develop her research and writing skills. Britney had the opportunity to use these research skills as a summer clerk to Judge David B. Park, Seventh Judicial District Court, State of Wyoming. There, she worked on research for a criminal jury trial, civil bench trials, and several motions. Originally from Wyoming, Britney enjoys fly-fishing, cross-country skiing, running, and hiking.

 

Nick Marlin Sports Law studentNick Marlin '12

Nick Marlin is a second-year JD candidate at Vermont Law School. Before coming to VLS, Nick played college football at Bates College as a linebacker and defensive tackle. He graduated from Bates College with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology and in French. While at VLS, Nick has worked in the compliance office in the athletic department at Dartmouth College. This summer he will work as an intern for Connecticut Tigers. Nick is planning a career in college athletics administration.

 

Elizabeth RiceElizabeth Rice '12

Elizabeth Rice is a second-year JD candidate at Vermont Law School. Elizabeth has been a dancer for over 10 years and attended the Baltimore Actors' Theatre Conservatory for 7 years. She did her undergraduate work at Wilson College where she earned a bachelor of arts in studio art. She came to VLS with interests in entertainment law, but her interests extended to include sports law after she took a Sports Law course and a Copyright Law course. During law school, she worked as the ACA accreditation standards compliance manager at the Grier School Riding Program. In this position she ensured compliance with over 200 standards for health and safety, site and facilities, and administration. During her 2L summer she will be working for AGVSPORTS Group, a competitive motorcycle apparel company, in its legal department. She hopes to pursue a career in sports and business transactions. Elizabeth's hobbies include dancing, snowboarding, and horseback riding.
