Our Common Waters Panel

A panel of experts will convene on a panel discussion titled, "Our Common Waters," to explore the use of the Public Trust Doctrine and Commons principles as an effective means to advocate for the protection of water resources.

- David Bollier - Acclaimed author and activist, blogger at Bollier.org, and founder of the Common Strategies Group, a project working to promote the commons internationally.
- Melissa Scanlan - VLS Professor and Director of the Environmental Law Center, Professor Scanlan will share information on her work utilizing the Public Trust Doctrine to build a trail allowing for public access around the entire shoreline of the Great Lakes.
- Ann Brummitt - Director of the Milwaukee River Greenway Coalition and advocate with On the Commons, a leading, nationwide commons advocacy organization, Ms. Brummitt will discuss the Great Lakes Commons project.
VLS Professor Jack Tuholske will provide welcoming remarks and an introduction. This event is free and open to the public. A light lunch will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. This panel is presented by the Freshwater Working Group of the Environmental Law Society, the Water Law & Justice Program, and the Environmental Law Center.
