Legislative Clinic
The law school's proximity to Vermont's capital city, Montpelier, allows JD and MELP students to take advantage of internships in the Vermont General Assembly. This is a 6-credit clinic offered each spring in Montpelier in which students are assigned to a standing committee of the state legislature. Under the supervision of the committee's chair and a legislative counsel, they complete legal research and draft projects relating to pending legislation. Students must complete the prerequisite legislation course offered each fall. Students work with attorneys in the Office of Legislative Counsel and focus on drafting and analysis. Students are required to be in attendance at the General Assembly in Montpelier for at least two days each week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. The course runs concurrently with the session of the General Assembly.
