Academic Success Bar Passage Program

All About the VLS Pathway to Bar Passage Program

The third year of law school is an exciting time with numerous opportunities at the disposal of our student body. However, the third year can also be a stressful time, as students begin to face the realities of balancing a challenging curriculum with the all-important job search and the ever-critical need to prepare for and pass the Bar exam. Recognizing this fact, the administration at Vermont Law School has committed substantial resources to the Academic Success Program to aid students who are addressing the unique issues presented by the Bar exam.

The keystone of the Pathway to Bar Passage program is the belief that early awareness, skills development, and disciplined study are essential to passing the Bar on the first attempt. The Pathway features The West Education network (TWEN) Web site in which all second and third year students are strongly encouraged to enroll. There, students can get an overview of critical information relating to the Bar, preparation resources, and campus programming. Pathway programs on campus begin at the start of fall term, and run straight through the July administration of the Bar exam.

Outside of the general Pathway programming, students are welcome to meet with ASP staff in order to get one-on-one support and guidance in preparing for what will likely be the most comprehensive examination of their lifetimes. We strive to meet the widest possible variety of student needs, and are as well known for our intensive individualized work and study plans to improve writing and Bar exam strategies, as we are for our enthusiastic pep talks! If you need it, ask us for it. If we don't have what you need, we will do our best to get you pointed in the right direction.
